Cape To Cape Gear Review – Part 2: Camp Accessories

Quality gear can take you further and when you're hiking the Cape To Cape Track in Western Australia, this is a no-brainer. Travel writer and adventurous Aussie Julia D'Orazio headed west to the iconic trail and put our Geo 2-Person Tent and X-Country 65L Technical Hiking Pack to the test.

Cape to Cape Gear Review - Camp Accessories

We recently embarked on a multi-day day hike through the wilderness of the Margaret River region. Setting off along the rugged and wild Cape To Cape track we were accompanied by some essential gear that helped us out on our way including a two-person tent, lightweight and spacious packs and poles, and a little bit of luxury in a compact portable espresso maker.

Field Test

A new addition to our hiking and adventures kit (but something that without a doubt will accompany us on many more to come!), the Wacaco Minipresso GR Coffee Maker added a touch of luxury on the trail, and the mornings were made better with a fresh press of smooth espresso coffee to watch the sun come up. Its lightweight and compact design makes it the perfect addition to elevate your mornings on the trail.

The Geo 2-Person Tent provided what we were looking for in a hiking tent, it was lightweight, easy to set up after a long day of hiking, and provided plenty of room inside for both of us and our gear to stay warm and dry. We found the vestibules had plenty of room for extra storage and a nice place to cook from when the drizzle started to appear and we needed some shelter while preparing a meal.

A perfect all-rounder for multi-day hikes, the X-Country 65L Technical Hiking Pack came with plenty of padded hip support and easy-to-access front and top-loading storage, which made it a dream on the trail. We loved the multiple access options to the main storage compartments and plenty of exterior pouches to place items needed for quick access.

The Leki Cressida Trekking Pole provided that much-needed support and stability along the trail. Whether it was long and slow sections of sand dunes to clambering across rocky headlands these poles held up when needed. A great inclusion were the cork handles providing for a no-slip and comfortable, ergonomic grip during the hike.

We loved our new additions to our trail adventures, especially trying out a couple of items that we wouldn't usually take but we are now sure they will be staples on our future adventures.
