Wild Weekend For Adventurous Women
The 11th annual Wild Women Adventure Race recently offered up a wild weekend full of competition and comradery. Run in the idyllic Noosa hinterland in Queensland's south-east, it's a fully-female adventure race aimed at encouraging women to get outdoors. Here race directors Kim Beckinsale and Jan Leverton give us the run-down of how it played out.
Wild Women Adventure Race 2022
It was a stunning day in the Noosa hinterland when more than 160 women took on the annual Wild Women Adventure Race. This event, which was created by Jan Leverton and Kim Beckinsale back in 2012, is now in its 11th year and continues to attract women who love getting into the outdoors for some fun and adventure.
The Wild Women AR has a 6-hour duration where the women run/trek, paddle and ride mountain bikes - all the while navigating with a map and compass. They travel in teams of two and both have to complete all of the activities.

Mountain Designs once again supported the event and this year provided hydration packs to the winners of each category. These packs were very well received and will, no doubt, be in the kit of these girls for next year's event.
The event attracts women of all abilities including some of Australia's top adventure racers and also some absolute beginners. This year we also had a world champion and Olympic kayaker who loved the format and will be back next year. The team of Cass Kimlin and Amie Munson (Yesterday's Pancakes) took the win and completed the entire course in about 5 hours and 45 minutes.
Next year the event will be back in another location - save a weekend for mid-October if you are up for the challenge!
