In 1981 Polartec® changed the way adventurers dressed for cold conditions with the invention of polar synthetic fleece. By using a lofted fibre structure that creates thermal air pockets to prevent convective heat loss and regulate core warmth, they developed a distinctly innovative knit construction that was more durable and versatile than any other outerwear fabric at the time. Today, the original Polartec® Classic fleece remains one of the cornerstones of thermal insulating materials for its proven durability, lightweight warmth and fast drying characteristics.
