What styles of women’s hats and beanies are available?
Our range of women’s hats offers something for every adventurer. Wide-brimmed hats provide full coverage on hot, sunny days, minimising the risk of sunburn to your face, ears and neck. Our selection of women’s caps offers a more casual and relaxed look, while our bucket hats and caps with neck capes bring versatility. Choose your adventure then choose the style to match. For the snow or cold weather, we currently do not stock any women’s snow beanies, however we will be introducing some new styles in 2020 so check back shortly for your next winter adventure.
What should you consider when choosing a hat or beanie?
While some people choose their headwear based on fashion, when it comes to outdoor adventure you’re better off looking at function first. Yes your headwear should look good but primarily it should protect you from the elements. For hot, sunny conditions, the most practical choice is a wide-brimmed hat, which will give your face, head and neck sun protection. For cooler weather, warm beanie hats for women are more suitable. Currently, Mountain Designs stocks a great range of hats and caps, with beanies coming in 2020.
What are the best women’s beanies and hats for winter?
The best headwear for comfort during winter or in cold climates is, without a doubt, a beanie. Unlike a hat, which will often expose your skin to the cold, a beanie will give your head and ears snugness and warmth all day long. Beanies for women come in all shapes and sizes – fitted, slouchy, skull cap, trooper-style, Sherpa-style, pompom-adorned to name a few – so decide on how much protection you need then pick your personal style. Women’s snow beanies are purpose-made for snow conditions so look for these when you’re heading to the ski fields, while Merino-based wool beanies are thermal-regulating, highly breathable, moisture-wicking and naturally antibacterial, making them a fine choice for winter as well. We do not currently stock any women’s beanies, however, we will be introducing some new styles in 2020 to help keep your ears and head warm and snug.
Which beanies and hats could you wear hiking?
Your hiking headwear will be dictated by the weather conditions you face. When it’s hot and sunny, women’s hats with wide brims are the most practical option as they give the most sun protection. Alternatively, women’s caps with neck flaps or bucket hats can be worn as well. For cool climates, a beanie is probably the best choice as it will keep your ears and head shielded from chilly wind and air.
Which women’s hats are suitable for summer?
Summer usually means warm, sunny weather so it’s essential to pick headwear that provides reliable cover from harmful UV rays. Wide-brimmed hats and women’s caps with neck flaps deliver sun protection for your face, ears and neck, shield your eyes from the bright glare of sunshine and allow cool breezes to get to your skin. For a more contemporary and relaxed style, choose from our range of women’s caps but remember that they won’t deliver the same high level of protection as our purpose-made sun hats.
Which women’s hats offer the best sun protection?
When it comes to sun protection, a wide-brimmed hat is the most functional and practical solution. It gives full coverage to your face, ears and neck, helping to block harmful UV rays while still allowing cool breezes to reach your skin. Other options to minimise exposure to the sun include women’s hats with neck flaps or bucket hats. Whichever style you opt for in the Mountain Designs range of hats for women, you can take great confidence in the reliable sun protection they will deliver.
